About Us

Have you ever been serenaded by a musical duo, who plays over ten different genres of popular music, using the violin instead of their voices to literally express a song’s lyrics? If not, then you must not have heard of the upcoming violin virtuosos- Sons of Mystro!!!!.

Sons of Mystro has been honing their skills in the Broward County public school system, attending Bethune Elementary School in Hollywood, Florida, on through Parkway Middle School, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dillard High School for the Performing Arts and Broward College, Davie, Florida.

Since being formed as a group, in June of 2010, Sons of Mystro has performed at a variety of events such as playing the signature song, BACK IN BLACK-AC/DC, for seven Miami Heat games, during the BACK IN BLACK promotion for the 2011/2012 basketball season, Keys To The City Ceremonies, most notably honoring international recording artist, Wyclef Jean and sisters, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian.

ESPN/BCSChampionship Party, opening for The Fray, the 8th Annual Jazz In The Gardens, alongside notable R&Band Jazz acts such as Najee, Fantasia, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Charlie Wilson, New Edition, Monica, Neyo, and Earth, Wind and Fire, open act for Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Revue for the NatKing Cole Generation Hope, Inc., opening for Sean Paul at Calle Ocho Festival Miami, one of the featured acts on Carnival On The Mile among many other appearances.

Sons of Mystro is an incredibly talented musical duo that has made its mark in the music industry by gracing the same stage as veteran artists and new-generation singers. They’ve shared their exceptional gift with legends such as Marcia Griffiths, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Dobby Dobson, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul, and Barrington Levy. In addition, they’ve also collaborated with a new generation of musicians, including the likes of Mr. Vegas, Beenie Man, Romain Virgo, and Etana. Sons of Mystro’s ability to connect with such a wide range of artists across generations truly speaks to their versatility as musicians and their ability to transcend boundaries. With every performance they bring a fresh and innovative take on music, captivating audiences with their signature sound and incredible presence onstage.

Many of these artist have expressed amazement at the depth and variety of their musical selections and their innovative and artistic arrangements.

They’ve also contributed musically to an episode of the highly successful reality show, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami starring the Kardashian sisters. Sons of Mystro has also won Emerging Artist under 21yrs old at IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music Awards).In covering a song, Sons of Mystro invariably enhances that particular song due to their unique styling. Sons of Mystro also composes their own material, currently amassing songs for their upcoming debut album. Among their earliest influences, going back to their days in elementary school is the unique, groundbreaking group-Black Violin. After seeing Black Violin perform for the first time and meeting them backstage, the youngest member of the group, Umoja, expressed his desire to one day play like them and was advised by Kevin Marcus to “practice, practice, practice”. This lit a spark within Umoja, as he took this advice literally and greatly improved his technique and styling abilities, consequently impacting his brother as well. Another of their great influences is Samvel Yervinyan, and Sayaka Katsuki, violinist with Yanni, and also the late, great, Jascha Heifetz who was one of the world’s greatest violinist. They aspire to one day attain the exceptional level of these artists and perhaps even play alongside some of them, in the future.

Among Sons of Mystro’s future aspirations are to further enhance their exceptional musical abilities by studying music production and the business side of music. Besides putting themselves in a position to someday play with many of the luminaries in the music fraternity, Sons of Mystro wants to give back to their community by teaching and influencing youngsters in society. In bringing the violin to the forefront, Sons of Mystro hopes to bring many years of pleasurable enjoyment to an audience, worldwide, bringing moments of sanity in these turbulent times!
